The InStockNotify App is a great tool to help you automatically send emails to your customers when products become back in stock. The is an overview of many of the key features and functionality.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

General Settings

  • Limit emails to available inventory:
When set to Yes, if inventory = 10 and there 200 customers signed up for that product, 10 emails will be sent every time inventory is checked until the product is sold out or all customers receive their email.

  • Minimum inventory before sending emails:
Setting to a value higher than 1 can be useful if your store has product returns and does not want to trigger back in stock emails for the small inventory level.

  • Send emails on pre-order products
Pre-order products can have inventory and be purchasable (The same as in stock products). Select No for the app to wait to send emails to customers until the pre-order status of the product is removed.

  • When a product is deleted from the store catalog:
When a product is deleted from your store catalog, any customers signed up for that product can never receive an email for it since it will never have inventory again. There are several actions that we can take:

    Set to inactive status
Sets the status to inactive and the product will then display on the inactive registrations page. There are then options to manually delete them or send the customers an email before deleting them.

    Automatically delete from app
Deletes the product and all registrations associated with it from the app when we detect it has been deleted from your store catalog.

Send customer an email, then delete from app
Automatically sends an email to the customer (configurable on the Settings -> Email Templates -> Deleted Products Page) and then deletes them from the app.

  • How long to monitor registrations:
Each store is unique in what is the correct amount of time a customer would typically wait for a product to be back in-stock. By default, we will keep a registration in the system for 12 months (up to 36 months for premium subscriptions).

DNS Record

A Sender Policy Framework (SPF) record is a type of Domain Name Service (DNS) TXT record that identifies which mail servers are permitted to send email on behalf of your domain. The purpose of an SPF record is to detect and prevent spammers from sending messages with forged From addresses on your domain.

See the solution article: How do I add a SPF record?

Adding a SPF record greatly improves emails not getting filtered into SPAM type folders.

Email Templates

When the app installs into a store 2 default email templates are created

  • Back in stock email template
  • Product deleted from store catalog template

The app has a built in html editor to allow for complete customization of each template.

Registration Form

All of the text elements in the registration form can be customized allowing for stores that have different languages.

There is also a setting that defines what .css class is used for the Notify Me button. This allows the form to used the same fonts and colors as the rest of the store pages.

Excluded Products

The app has the ability to exclude specific products from having the registration form display.

Vacation Mode

Going on vacation and don't want emails to go out while you are out? No problem just set the vacation dates in the app and we will pause sending emails. Customers can still sign up via the registration form on the product pages.

Inventory Check Schedule

The app has a setting where you can adjust the time of the automated inventory checks for your store.

The app also allows you to manually trigger an inventory check at anytime in-between the automated inventory checks. (Registrations -> Inventory Check page)

Storefronts

The storefronts page allows you to enable/disable our script from running on the store pages. If a script is in a disabled state, the app will still monitor inventory and send out emails if a product becomes back in stock.

Store Alerts

For premium level subscriptions, you can add up to 3 email addresses and the app will send you an email alert when a customer registers for a back in stock email.
